My old comcast modem died and I went and got a new one at the store.  I can easily get online with connecting directly into the modem, but when I try to connect via my Netgear router, I get nothing.  I've called both companies' tech support numbers and they want to charge me upwards of $70 for help.  My thought is that it would be cheaper to just go buy a new router than to pay for that mess but I was hoping that somebody here could help before I do that.

Thanks

Have you tried just simply turning off your router. turning off your modem, waiting 30 seconds, turning your modem back on, wait for testing light sequence and turning your router back on? The modem could not be recognizing the MAC address of your router.

Yes, I have power cycled through everything many many times.  I've googled this problem extensively too and I'm coming to the conclusion that I need to reset my router to the factory default settings.  I tried pushing in the button on the back for 20 sec as I found when I googled it, but that's not resetting it.
