Hmm, it's kinda shitty I'd need to swap out one of my good abilities for an ability that blows just to gtfo, but I'll look into it.

Teleport, vault, spirit walk. Commonly used GTFO abilities used by other classes. Many specs use 3-5 abilities just for survival and utility.

Honestly, I don't think the problems with melee and monks in particular have anything to do with the 3 points you made. Its a combination of these two things:

1. Nearly all incoming damage can be avoided through simple tactics like kiting and out-ranging by ranged characters while these tactics aren't naturally used or even possible by melee characters.

2. Defensive stat itemization progression is greatly outpaced by incoming damage in inferno.


I think the best possible (but least likely) fix would be to change the NPC AI and attack animations so that melee can develop their own tactics to avoid nearly all dmg while being just and productive as a kiting ranged class. This would probably be the only way to keep classes more or less balanced at all gear levels. Giving melee all the tools to kite like a ranged class turns them into a ranged class. Buffing defensive stat itemization enough to allow melee progression would trivialize the game at higher gear levels and make melee outpace ranged at higher gear levels.

wtf did they do to this game! I only lost a few k dps with 2-3 gear swaps but holy shit does the game feel boring now. Went from 2.4 aspd to like 1.6, ~1.0 with a 2h. Doing act 2 in a group isn't too difficult now but again boring as shit, 5 mins of fighting to kill most rare packs, my resource gen and life regen got hit fucking hard too. Like i didn't have it hard enough as a monk? Seriously have no idea what the fuck they were thinking with this shit.

Went through the swamp area + instances, then the part after the mansion through the butcher in act 1. 5 stacks + switching to 200% mf at the last second for elites got ~35 rares (I encountered 2 goblins), a few ilvl 63.

Ok, so there was some talk on Sunday of how good demon hunter is in clearing act 2 and 3... well so far I'm getting shit on constantly so any advice is welcome.

Right now I'm using:

Smoke Screen with Lingering Fog
Shadow power (Gloom)
Prep (Backup Plan)
Marked for Death (Grim Reaper) or Companion (Bat)

Hungering Arrow (Spray of Teeth)
Elemental Arrow (Ball Lightning) or Cluster Arrow (Loaded for Bear)

I can list stats/gear if you'd like but basic weapon setup is a 2 hander, 924 damage with a decent quiver.

Don't let jack shit hit you. Use Caltrops with the roots and prep smokescreen or vault for the inevitable leaping douchebag Lacunas (or whatever the hell they're called).

I'd suggest replacing MFD/Bat with Vault and Shadow Power with Caltrops. I dunno anything abotu Elemental Arrow since I haven't played in about 2-3 weeks but I take it Tendrils are now nerfed bad enough that ball lightning is better?

Shittiest part of act II is definately any part where you have to deal with those fucking bees.
Shittiest part about act III is the stupid mages that summon or the fatties that put shields on their mobs.
