I chose to kill the nydus canals since I had a shit ton of anti air (improved turrets, extended bunker range, vikings have aoe) and just massed vikings, rines, goliaths and siege tanks. However there is this giant massive flying unit that just comes out of nowhere and completely shits on whatever you send at it that gets in range.

The Leviathan? If its the giant thing that spits out Mutalisks every 3 seconds, they let you kill it if you choose the other mission.

Ranked Silver in 1v1 and 2v2. I definately need to work on macro, but I have the whole Void Ray thing down pretty well Cheesy

Yeah, fyi it takes 10 yamatos to get to the center of that thing. Holy shit did I have to sacrifice some vikings to get them off tho.

This thing won't boot past the first split second of the splash screen for me.

Installed more than 1/2 dozen different times on different drives, from safe mode with networking, and as administrator every time. I've tried changing resolutions and refresh rates.  I have all the most recent drivers directly from the manufacturer for my video card, sound card, motherboard, and most recent windows updates.  I've reverted the graphics drivers through a few different versions and used a driver cleaner to completely wipe them out before my latest attempts with the absolute latest drivers.  I've edited variables in the Variables.txt file (as provided by support) and have a system that is well over even recommended specs which is more than stable for every other game I've thrown at it.

Support has nothing else to offer me and the rub: because I can't get past more than 1 - 1.5 seconds of the splash screen (even before loading) I can't make a character to select when attempting to post this one on the forum.  Well played blizz, well played.

$100 paperweight set.

This is a fun thread about the dozens of easter eggs in SC2: http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/248426236?page=1

You're a baller...finished normal for the story, working on Hard to comlete every achievement (except the brutal one obv)

Today's bunch of games weren't the greatest...had an SCV build a bunker and racks inside my base at the corner  Cry

Also mass Hydralisks are a pain, I need to get better at scouting so I can have chargelots in time.

I did however get one terran soooo good...I felt like korean or something. He sends his SCV in to scout early, I drop a few gateways, SCV dies and I cancel the gateways, get a stargate and beat him with a single void ray against his maurader heavy gateway reaction build.

Probe Cannon Rush IMO Tongue

Its where you take the 9th probe, build a pylon, then sent it into enemy base. Then use 10th probe to start the forge. The 9th probe builds another pylon inside the enemy base, and both of those finish around same time. Then just start building cannons Tongue
Only defense of that is to send every last one of your SCV's/probe's at the building cannons immediately (wait 2 sec, and 1-2 cannons form, and own your probe's).

Kinda funny though, when you hit 1 person like that early, all 3 players seem to Alt-F4 Tongue Its a miracle :p

technology be damned, apparently the best units in the game are the ones that you can build first. I've always been amused with the worker tactics in sc and now sc2.

So what do you guys think of the game overall? How does it compare to the original? I almmmoooostttt bought it today, but @ $60 I thought I'd wait to hear your thoughts. Does this just crush SC1 in overall fun factor as well as game playability, or not so much?

Yes Leman, definately more fun than SC1. There is just so much more to do...here are some examples.

The Protoss Nexus has energy that slowly regenerates. For 50 energy it can "Chrono Boost" a building, doubling its efficiency for 20 seconds. If you need some research or units asap, or even Probes, this gives you something else to do especially in the early game where there isn't a lot going on, and gives Protoss both an answer to rush strategies and the ability to rush themselves.

The Zerg Hatchery can spawn a Queen once you have a Spawning Pool (Zergling enabler building). The Queen is compeltely different than in SC1. It's a ground unit that can attack air, so it helps fend off early attacks. She can also use some energy to spawn larvae. I don't play Zerg but I think once she uses her ability on a Hatchery in about 15 seconds or so 4 additional larvae will spawn, allowing you to get out tons of units pretty quickly. She can also spawn a Creep Tumor on the Creep. They act like the colonies from SC1 except they are small, and cloaked. Each Creep Tumor can spawn one additional Creep Tumor nearby. This allows you to construct something of a "Creep Highway" to your other bases or even your opponent's base. Creep in SC2 allows Zerg units to move -much- faster on top of it. The Queen also has a heal ability.

The Terran have two upgrades for their Command Center, one is the Planetary Fortress which turns it into a pretty powerful defensive structure. The other one is the Orbital Command, which you can get after your Barracks. This allows you to do scan like the SC1 comsat station. It also allows you to permanently increase the supply of a supply depot (all of these abilities cost energy). Best of all, you can spend 50 energy to call down a MULE, which is like a super SCV. These mine about 270 minerals in 90 seconds before they explode.

So they definately gave you more stuff to do, rather than just build buildings and units.

Also, being a Protoss player, I think I need to mention the awesomeness that is Warp Gate technology. Researched at the Cybernetics Core, for 50 minerals and gas, it allows you to morph your Gateways into Warp Gates, which can create a unit anywhere that you have Pylon influence on a reduced cooldown. Many players will Chrono Boost this technology, put a Pylon near the opposing base, and warp units right at their doorstep, which makes it super easy to send reinforcements in. If you get lucky, you can drop a Pylon with a scouting Probe in the corner of their base early game where they can't see it. If it goes undetected....  Cool

I too am a protoss player and love the warp gate tech.  You can win the game with just gateway units, zealot, stalker (armored ranged unit, hits air+groud), high templar, dark templar, sentry (ranged defensive unit that spawns forcefields).  The new dropship has a mode where it emits an pylon-like field onto the ground so you can warp in units or build structures.  I've had great successes with dropping 2 immortals (protoss tank) then warping in 5 stalkers/zealots into the back of someone's base. Cheesy  There is alot of variety in viable strategies, going zealot+voidray+mothership is another of my favorites.

You should definitely get it leman.  The multiplayer is great, easy to find games and the single player is alot of fun.  The brutal campaign and acheivments will keep you occupied for a long time.
